Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th - Lima

Lima ia an overnightnigjt port. It is a working port.and not a cruise port. This means you cannot walk from the ship to the city for tours and attractions.

Let me say this... Lima looks like an interesting city but, and her is a big but, the port is a 75 minute bus ride from the center of the city. If you want to visit Lima from this port, you will spend over an hour getting there and over an hour getting back. That really cuts into your visiting time.  We all hate Toronto traffic - Lima is way worse. This is a city with 11 million inhabitants and NO SUBWAY or RAPID TRANSIT what so ever.  OMG - kill me know!

We took an evening tour to see the Magic Fountains and the Love Part.  The Love Park is based on Barcelona's park Park Guell. The tour was from 6 pm to 1030 pm. We spent 20 minutes at the Love Park and an hour at the Fountains. The rest of.the time was on the bus.  And if you tried to do it on your own, you'd be 75 minutes to the bus to take a taxi to the site; visit the site; take a taxi back and then que for the bus back to the ship.that only runs every hour by that time of night.

The Fountains were wonderful and well worth the visit,  but here is where Toronto needs to heed the traffic issue. I'm soured on Lima because of the delays in getting around the city.  There is no way it should take that long by distances.  Do I want to visit again? Only if they get this fixed. There are many amazing sites to see, but you are restricted by transportation to see many of them. I would have loved to visit the Gold Museum and the Larcon Museum,  but with the traffic situation,  it's almost impossible - even though we are here for 2 days.

It was also a Friday night, during the holiday season with all the kids on their summer vacation!  That didn't help.

The following morning we went into Lima, just to walk around a bit...about a 3 hour bus ride, there and back and about an hour in Lima!

Sites on the way to Lima

After our ride to and from Lima, we went to Alfredos for lunch.  I got pictures of the apps, but forgot to take pictures of the mains.  We took the dessert back to the cabin. I started watching Netflixs and fell asleep until 6:30. Our dinner is at 6:00 and I wasn't hungry anyway, so just stayed in the cabin and watched Christmas movies - the Holdovers (which was great) and Crossing Delancey (not a Christmas movie, but it was listed under the Christmas movies).
